Review of 10,000 BC (2008) by Jonny B — 17 May 2012
I have two views:
- The intelligence behind the movie appears to come from 10,000 years ago.
- The visuals and backgrounds viewed seem to come 10,000 years after the intelligence.
10,000 BC is generally a pretty doomed idea of a movie in the first place so in that respect, director Roland Emmerich doesn't accomplish too bad a job.
D'Leh (Steven Straight) is a tribal hunter who is destined to be the savior of a kidnapped group of cave-people who have been stolen by mysterious horse riders. He must battle these foes and mega-fauna's to save his sweetheart Evolet (Camilla Belle) alongside a small number of tribal warriors.
Is this another dumb movie with pretty lame characters and plot? Yes. However, the acting is decent considering the lack of well known names and it gives you a basic understanding of what types of animals became extinct in the ice age, somewhere in that era; not everything is dull and if you think extremely positively, it may turn out to be am above average popcorn flick!
