Review of 10 Cloverfield Lane (2016) by Jeffrey T — 10 Jul 2016

In a way, we've seen movies similar to this, conventional Hollywood thrillers that throw a group of people together in a confined space and either let a mystery slowly reveal itself or have the story take place with non-stop action and character development.

What really makes this film stand out is its marvelous execution of being in the protagonist's shoes. In a Hitchcock way, we only know as much as the main character throughout the entire duration in what is already a detailed mystery within a giant scope.

I don't think anyone could have played this role as good as John Goodman and Mary Elizabeth Winstead is nearly flawless in her character. An extremely intense and wonderfully executed thriller that's surprising all around.
