Review of 10 Cloverfield Lane (2016) by Jacob B — 07 Aug 2018
10 Cloverfield Lane isn't a sequel to the 2008 film but rather a spiritual successor of sorts. In many ways, this movie improves upon the last one and it's not because of no shaky cam this time around.
It's because it doesn't have underwhelming results after a creative marketing campaign. So...there's that. John Goodman is phenomenal in this movie. He's absolutely terrifying in this movie.
If only Boo could see what Sulley has become. The final act is thrilling and it isn't without its share of more heartwarming moments like with that jukebox song. 10 Cloverfield lane indeed shows new and more inventive ways to create a franchise.
How do you keep these secrets so well, J.J. Abrams?
