I really enjoyed the original found-footage monster movie 'Cloverfield' from 2008 & have always been waiting for a follow-up film so was pretty pumped for this, but the movie fell completely flat with me tbh.

It's supposed to be the sequel to an alien-monster ripping through NYC however the connections are so tiny & ambiguous you'd need to look it up on the internet to find them. I give this movie 2 stars purely for its stellar casting & for being cleverly suspenseful.

It does a seriously awesome job of keeping the audience guessing the entire way through the movie wondering what's really going on outside to whether Howard really is what he claims to be. But apart from that it was unexciting & that ending was straight up ridiculous.

Aliens? Spaceships? Poisonous Gas? How the hell does this movie have anything to do with the original monster flick from 2008? Another movie with too many unanswered questions, a silly lacklustre ending & (after watching the trailer & write-up) obviously too focussed on its publicity build-up than content.

Disappointing.
