Review of 10 Cloverfield Lane (2016) by Compi24 — 05 Apr 2016
A claustrophobic, bite-your-nail-to-the-quick thriller that ultimately redefines franchise film development. Sure, the specific narrative thrills are different from those of Matt Reeves' 2008 creature-feature predeccessor, but make no mistake - this quasi-sequel's heart is just as black, if not darker than the film before it.
Thanks in no small part to one of the most impressive directorial debuts in recent memory, a truly engrossing mystery at the center of all things, and what could quite feasibly be John Goodman's best onscreen role since "Walter Sobchak," "10 Cloverfield Lane" places yet another clear tick mark in the "W" column for producer J.
