Thanks to a confined setting and intense performance from John Goodman, 10 Cloverfield Lane makes for a prescient, realistically frightening sci-fi abduction thriller rife with thought-provoking ideas, unpredictable thrills and nail-biting tension -- even if an expository final act somewhat compromises its chilly buildup.
