Before I start this review I want to say I absolutely hated the 2008 film Cloverfield like a lot and because of my hatred for the first film I had absolutely no interest in seeing this film however I was recently on a plane and I saw the film was available to watch so I decided to give it a try because after all it got great reviews and it wasn't a found footage film like the original Cloverfield movie, and words cannot express how much I actually enjoyed the film.

10 Cloverfield Lane is a powerhouse of a film with absolutely exceptional performances. Producer JJ Abrams does an absolutely exceptional job with crafting a film that is mysterious and scary as hell. The films cast only consists of three people (4 if you count Bradley Cooper as the voice of Ben) which are John Goodman (Howard), Mary Elizabeth Winestead (Michelle), and John Gallagher Jr (Emmet) and they all do an amazing job with their roles however John Goodman gives the performance of a life time as Howard in my opinion he totally stole the show, he gives us a chilling performance that I hope will go down in history. Mary Elizabeth Winestead and John Gallagher Jr are two very talented actors and I feel they will have bright futures ahead of them. Another thing I loved about 10 Cloverfield Lane was that a good portion of this film takes place in a bunker and it gives the film a claustrophobic feel to it, which to me was an extremely clever idea because it just worked so well for this film.

10 Cloverfield Lane is a dark, eerie, and chilling film that will keep you on the edge of your seat till the very end. What makes this film great is that for a horror film it doesn't rely on gore or CGI to make it scary, like what most horror films do now a days. I also loved how not only does the film have you asking multiple questions but it also has a lot of twists and turns that you never see coming and you just can't resist turning it off because you just want to know what will happen next. Though 10 Cloverfield Lane is a phenomenal film it can get pretty violent and extremely intense however you may not even care because you will be so eager to know what happens next. With a little cast and not much of a setting 10 Cloverfield Lane is proof that you can do so much with so little I also love the fact that there is a little cliff hanger that will maybe give us hope for a third film in the franchise. I have always been a fan of J.J Abrams and with this film he proves that though he's an awesome director/producer in the sci-fi genre he can be a great director in the mystery/horror genre as well, and with this film and Star Wars: The Force Awakens all I can say is he is having a fantastic year with movies, I honestly can't wait to see what his next project will be in the future. 10 Cloverfield Lane is not only an excellent film but its one of the biggest surprises of 2016, I totally recommend this film for everyone who is enjoys the mystery/horror genre or whether you were a fan of the original film or not, I guarantee you will love it.
