"Habemus Papam" is a Runaway Bride story with the new Pope as the bride. Michel Piccoli does a great job in the role of a Cardinal who is by nature a follower but is being pushed into a leadership role as the new Pope.

There is much to recommend "Habemus Papam". It has some nifty light comedy and some stabs at deeper insight. Unfortunately too many of what could have been good brief comic bits overstay their welcome.

And director Moretti should have reduced his role as the psychologist who unintentionally and rather unconsciously becomes the leader in a building of followers. Enjoyable for what it is, disappointing for what it could have been.
