Review of Turbo Kid (2015) by Shane S — 07 May 2016

Many, many 80s nostalgia movies have come out in recent years seeking to capitalize on my childhood. From Kung Fury to Transformers to Moonbeam city. But while most of them get the fashions and the little details right, Turbo Kid is the only one that's recaptured the heart.

Unlike, say, Kung Fury, which lives or dies based on the references, Turbo Kid is a perfectly functional coming of age adventure lovestory in the style of something like The Last Starfighter or The Goonies with truly lovable characters at the center of its cartoonishly ludicrous ultraviolence.

It's my favorite film of 2015 and I can't recommend it enough!
