Mike Leigh is one of Britain's masterful writers of character, particularly for women. Each performance here is a gem of detail and nuance, no rushing through moments. Rare for Leigh to plumb historical detail so lovingly.
Not an ounce of cynicism in this story at all. Great fun, awesome music. An actor's film. 10/10!
