Review of The World (2004) by Ryan M — 06 Jun 2009
I think this as a great film that deals with a very important issue of todayâ??s society. The film is about a woman and her life in the World Park and Beijing. It deals with the life and expectations of immigrants from the different points of view without being â??about the immigrantsâ??.
It depicts the points of view of the immigrants already working, living in a community, of those just arriving, risking their lives, of those sacrificing everything. I think part of the success of the film is that although the films takes place in Beijing, the concept is really universal, and the fact of taking place in the World Park, adds it an extra dimension to the concept.
The only thing I didnâ??t like was the ending, which in my opinion was a bit over dramatized and actually acts against the overall quality of the film.
