Review of The World (2004) by Tim M — 23 Dec 2007
This was actually better than I'd expected, but there's only so much one can milk out of the excellent premise (i.e. the "World" theme park in Beijing- see the world in one place). The characters are desperate miserable and downtrodden.
They've got the whole "world" ahead of them but nowhere to go, nothing meaningful to do, stuck in repressive relationships. It would be more depressing if I wasn't so conscious of the damned sylistic devices, e.
G. the long takes.
