Review of The Double Life of Véronique (1991) by Gustavo A — 12 Aug 2007
Krzysztof Kieslowski's ability to capture beauty within the simplest of things with such perfection is only surpased by the delicate precision with which he is able to allow Irène Jacob to bloom in this role.
The story is irrelevant and serves only as the background to what is clearly the most beautifull woman to ever appear on film. At the age of 24, Irène teaches herself Polish specifically for this role and masters the art of innoncence and girl-next-door to absolute perfection.
This combined with Krzysztof's renowned cinematographical skills creates a film that has only one purpose. Beauty, Beauty & Beauty.
