Review of Tess (1979) by Roger T — 23 Nov 2009
A perfect adaptation of Thomas Hardy's novel, beautiful & heartbreaking, subtle & savage. More sinned against than sinner Nasstasia Kinski is perfect as the naive peasant girl or a woman ahead of her time, depending on your viewpoint pays the ultimate price.
The novel was a favorite of Sharon Tate & was obviously a labour of love for Polanski in memory of his wife.
