Review of Super Fly (1972) by Christopher M — 09 Mar 2010
Out of all of the "Blaxploitation" films I have witnessed thus far, "Superfly" would definitely be the "Rocky" or "Casablanca" of this genre. "Superfly" tells a story of a drug dealer who under no moral obligation other than a change of heart, decides to quit the business.
The film takes itself very seriously while still paying homage to its category. While I don't normally look to "Blaxploitation" for for a sense of drama, this movie managed to keep me interested as well as entertained.
Despite what its name might suggest, it really is a piece of cinema that I would recommend to anyone.
