Review of Seymour: An Introduction (2015) by Mitch M — 29 Mar 2015
Stupendous. A perfect gem. A beautiful healing experience. I don't think I've ever seen a documentary quite like it. Hawke deserves much credit for bringing a film about true art to film audiences.
It works magnificently in the theater. This is the musician's answer to the absurd harshness and utter implausibility of the profoundly overrated Whiplash. Seymour the man is extraordinary. See for yourself.
All musicians and artists will lean a lot from this man. Bravo to Ethan for hearing the message and sharing it. What a great accomplishment. The world needs more films about real music, especially classical music and musicians.
I have no doubt this film will be remembered come awards time. Anyone in the NYC area can see this film at the Burns Film Center in Pleasantville or Lincoln Plaza in Manhattan. Don't miss it.
