Review of Scrooge (1970) by Pamela D — 25 Dec 2011
SCROOGE (1970) with Albert Finney is a hard-edged retelling of the Dickens classic. It's my favorite version of A Christmas Carrol despite being a musical. Eerie, colorful, larger than life, with creepy, eye-catching special effects, it made a big impression on me when I saw it as a kid.
It was scary enough to make one of my younger schoolmates cry. Great sets and costumes. To this day, my Christmas is never complete without watching this sharp, classy Shepperton Studios production on Christmas Eve, followed by David Lynch's BLUE VELVET on Christmas morning.
