Review of Safe (1995) by Matthew C — 08 Jan 2008
Absolutely sublime. The Village Voice was right to name Todd Haynes' 1995 masterpiece the finest film of the decade. Every shot and scene are essential. Julianne Moore is brilliant as the slightly ridiculous but in the end, crushingly sad heroine-- a spoiled socialite and victim of multiple chemical sensitivity.
Or is she? I have seen it so many times since it came out and it's high time I saw it again.
