Review of Restrepo (2010) by Mark O — 25 Dec 2010
Why even good intentioned soldiers are doomed to fail as they try to conquer unfamiliar lands. The platoon controls only its immediate vicinity. Every time they deal with locals they only make things worse. The kill there animals, kill their children and destroy their houses.
And then they leave.
One day we will see a movie made from the perspective of the other side. No matter what one thinks of the motivation of those fighting the Americans, it is hard to argue that their valor and fighting spirit are more than a match.
