Review of Natural City (2003) by Robert M — 05 Aug 2009
With more just a mere nod to Blade Runner, Natural City involves R, an agent in charge of hunting down renegade battle droids. He's also involved with a pleasure droid Ria, whose lifespan is approaching to an end. So desperate is he to save Ria, he resorts to approaching black market robot engineers and smugglers. His distraction makes him a liability to the agents, putting him at odds with his commander and friend Noma.
In terms of style and design, great, but there aren't that many likeable characters, as R is selfish and self-pitying, although the actresses playing Ria and Syon, a girl targeted by the battle droids, are pretty to look at.
