Review of Mumford (1999) by Greg C — 22 Jul 2007
After catching an airing of this on Comedy central several years after it came out, this instantly became one of my all time favorite movies. What's interesting though is that most people don't know about it and it may be hard to find (I wanted to buy it, but couldn't find it in any stores. I ended up getting a VHS online for 37 cents).
It's actually a kind of hard movie to explain, because its premise is also its big surprise twist (revealed about halfway through). I had already known about it before I saw the movie, but I think it'd be a lot more enjoyable if you didn't know, so I won't ruin it here.
It's not really a comedy, not really a drama. But it's an amazingly sweet and charming film. Even if it doesn't seem like the kind of movie you'd enjoy, you should see it anyway, because I think you'll be surprized.
