Review of I Think We're Alone Now (2008) by Curt M — 30 Jan 2011
This documentary is fascinating, a film I felt a little guilty for watching, but one which I could not stop watching. It explores the fanatical obsession of two unusual people. Both are beyond the pale fans of 80s pop star Tiffany.
One grown male fan is quite articulate and intelligent and has Asperger's syndrome. The other is an intersex individual, not as smart as the man, but a fair communicator as well. The film explores the length to which both fans go to pursue a relationship with Tiffany.
Both delude themselves into thinking that a relationship exists when sadly, their is none. The extent to which both go to fan the flames of their respective phantom relationships is striking, somehow compelling, and profoundly sad.
