Review of Hello Herman (2012) by George W — 20 Feb 2013
Norman Reedus plays Lax, an emotionally troubled reporter attempting to unveil the story of a high school student who shows up to school one day and massacres about forty of his peers and teachers. Lax appears to connect with Herman on a unique level, as he draws out Herman's story.
As the events and circumstances that led up to the massacre are discussed, Lax's past is also revealed. The audience is prompted to ask itself critical questions regarding violence in youth culture.
What are the causes? How can we prevent such occurrences? What is the appropriate response? These questions and more are explored as Lax strives to give light to a phenomenon that has played an all too significant role in communities around the world.
