Review of Hello Herman (2012) by Miles D — 11 Jun 2013
Coming from a person who has not watched his share of movies to a good enough degree to write a lengthy review, I watched this at the New York City premiere, and I had mixed feelings about it. Although the acting by Garret Backstrom was incredibly powerful, the plot and the other actors were quite mediocre.
The poorly named "Lax Morales", played my Norman Reedus, had an emotionless role in the film, making the movie less interesting. His backstory with the KKK was very strange and did not seem to mix well with the rest of the film.
The connection was very faint, and trying to balance it with the interview with Herman was not up to par. There were many improvements that could have been done to this film, first one being Lax's backstory.
If there was something else he could have witnessed or be a part off that was not a stupid confederate lifestyle could have helped tremendously. A better choice of actors could have also been made. The only actor I really enjoyed was Mr.
Backstrom, but I did fairly enjoy the acting of Michelle Danner, playing Herman's mother. I think this movie had a lot of potential when it first started, and even though there are many flaws to it, it is still watchable and enjoyable to some.
I would definitely recommend this movie to someone interested in gun violence laws, but that's about it. To the common person, this movie could be bland and disinteresting.
