Review of Heavy Metal in Baghdad (2007) by Vince K — 24 May 2009
Excellent documentary on the plight of Iraq's only heavy metal band, Acrassicauda (pronounced A-Crass-A-Kuda). The band suffers many hardships before immigrating to war-free Syria. The band is alright (I downloaded their demo last night, which the recording of is documented in this film).
It's remarkable just being the only metal demo from Iraq ever made. The band recently immigrated to New York City as refugees, and have their first album in the works. Definitely going to watch their career.
Oh, and it was cool to see what metalheads are like living in Iraq.
