Review of Heavy Metal in Baghdad (2007) by Jérôme V — 20 Jan 2009
Decent documentary about a not too common topic: the metal or rock scene in Baghdad during the war, and the only metal band there. More broadly, it's about a group of civilian friends caught between the army and the terrorists, struggling to do what they want to do with their lives and maintain their sanity.
The biggest flaw is probably the shoddy camera work. It also gets a little tiresome hearing the band members vent to the camera, since there isn't much information or many events being covered here.
But it's tough to imagine being in their shoes.
