Review of Hearts & Minds (1995) by Leann D — 19 Dec 2007
This is probably the hardest documentary a person could watch. it is brutally strung together almost as though the film were a war itself. its not hard to tell that this is a film dive-bombing american apathy, but for me it seemed more enlightening not on the level of "america is terrible" (not that that isnt true about vietnam) but on the level that people enjoying the destruction of others.
I know it sounds trite but I dare you to watch it with that in mind and see if that doesnt strike your soul. much of the footage is absolutely horrifying, so I dont recommend this as education for your children.
its hard to watch as an adult. and while this is certainly not the most unbiased approach to a subject it does what it intends to do and it does it very well. which is scary.
