This film more than makes up for some slightly-boring melodrama in the middle by having some of the best battle scenes and action sequences I have seen in a long time, particularly towards the last hour or so of the film. There is a lot to praise here, including some pretty memorable performances from many of the lead cast, and I'm a total sucker for battle scenes that put an emphasis on strategy and tactics. If what I have said sounds up your street you should check this one out!
