My mind was blown that Kubrick actually made a flat-out terrible movie. I'm usually not sympathetic to filmmakers suppressing their own work, but Stan did have a point here. If I had been a studio head in the 1950s, I would not have let him near a camera after this.
However, he did get his act together pretty quickly after this.
