Review of Deadbeat at Dawn (1988) by John A — 26 Oct 2007
FUCK ROBERT RODRIGUEZ!!! El Mariachi is bullshit compared to this shoestring budgeted 80's classic. Jim Van Bebber is a true virtuoso and directs with a nihilistic eye. I've never seen an action movie that felt as "real" as Deadbeat at Dawn; The last 20 mins, where Goose confronts Danny and the Spider gang, is one of the best brawling beat downs of all time.
Although out of print (try your luck on ebay, folks) the special edition from Synapse is worth getting ahold of.
