Review of Day Night Day Night (2006) by Eddie S — 11 Oct 2007
For me, this is at the top of the recent terror-centric films. Why?
Well, first off it's verite. Yes, that was done with United 93, but it's more effective here because we don't know exactly what we're building up to. The lead actress is really great. Will she remain a Falconetti or will choose a film career?
Second, and maybe most importantly, there's areal sense of purposeful ambiguity. The topic is far more menacing when there are no answers. The tedium in certain scenes works for the film; not against it.Reality is mundane. If things were sped up and trimmed down the film would lose one of its greatest assets- its tone.
