Review of Come Undone (2000) by Espen G — 09 Jun 2008
A very well made teen angst film, that only French cinema seems be able to produce. It is subtle, though sometimes graphic film, that alternates between three different time lines. The narrative never reveals too much of the actual reasons behind Matheiu's (Jeremie Elkaim) current and previous state of mind, it is more on an emotional level.
This subtle quality of the film is what makes it rise above other films of the genre, as it doesn't fall into melodrama or overstatements. Elkaim is absolutely stunning and conveys the sombre Mathieu with a sensibility seldom seen in such a young a person.
