Review of Carnage (2011) by Andrew C — 04 Jun 2012
I was initially a little apprehensive about this film because I had heard such great things about the play, and feared it wouldn't translate on screen. While I still have yet to see the play, the film here is absolutely hilarious!!! Especially Jodie Foster. I'm so used to her playing uptight, buttoned-up characters, so it was a pleasant surprise to see her play a character that's a little more frazzled and emotional. The whole cast is great, but, in my opinion, foster steals the show.
The script is great too, very quotable, but it never feels forced or cliched. and Polanski's directing makes the apartment setting feel like an emotional pressure cooker, causing all the characters to explode at one point! it's hilarious, unpredictable, and never boring. love love love.
