Definitely a forgotten Kubrick classic that shows his eye for detail and the painstaking amount of time he spent researching for his Napoleon movie he never got to make. This is one of those movies that takes multiple views to truely apprichate it's merits.

I orginally did not care much for this film, but after watching it a second time I feel in love with the epic scale of the film. The costumes, the set design, the lighting, music and just about everything about this film is just beautiful.

It's just amazing how Kubrick used mostly candles to light all the indoor scenes. I personally think this is Kubrick's best film.
