Review of Au Hasard Balthazar (1966) by Andrew C — 03 Dec 2007
Cinema vs art, is what bresson says, and I would agree - this movie is more about art than cinema. So if you go see it with a mood for entertainment, you won't get it. It's slow, long, and weird.
I didn't get half of the dialogues and some of the action - but that's what the point is - life is a mystery, art is a mystery, contemplation is good. I loved the scene with flowers around donkey's head, awesome.
