The synopsis is misleading. This is one of a series of noir films featuring the hard-bitten detective Lemmy Caution, veteran of Guatalcanal and lover of poetry. This is his "sci-fi" episode, but the question of interstellar travel and technology is really a red herring.
Briefly, this is noir super-hardcore. Worth watching again.
