Review of Vexille (2007) by Bancho — 27 Apr 2008
Vexille is way too similar to the Appleseed flicks, down to the Oakenfold soundtrack and the female lead... but the story here is a little more engaging.
While the voicework is nice, the dramatic acting on-screen is borderline laughable-- most notably, the climax. It looks silly. CG animation just isn't meant to convey deep human emotion such as love and sadness; the nuances in movement are too... human to replicate with a computer.
What can be replicated with success, however, is action. And this movie does-- and lots of it. Excellent sequences galore.
In all, aside from the animated drama sequences, Vexilleseed is an all-around must watch.
