Review of Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives (2010) by Dickie L — 04 Mar 2011
By far the greatest achievement from Thai auteur Weerasethakul recapitulates every feat the filmmaker has achieved with his previous masterworks. Plot revolves around dying Boonmee who retells his past lives in Thailand's different time frames, is tended to by close family, visited by wife's and nephew's spirits, and embarks into an overwhelming journey that details past to present before finally embracing the future.
Filled with interesting allegories on the nature of duality, the duality of nature, and the nature of human reaction. Spellbinding, eerie, and magical make this a superb stunner!
