Review of Tracker (2010) by Hm F — 27 May 2011
The lush beauty of New Zealand is the star attraction in this period adventure with two solid performances from its leads. Morrison brings an often exotic nobility to his on-the-lam fugitive, running from a crime he didn't commit.
Winstone delivers a rugged persona to his tracker character, a man with a past that weigh upon him heavily even in far-off New Zealand. The logistics of the story are familiar but with a movie like this, its the performances that sell it to the audience; and this movie does it well.
The historical context of the film lend the story an added interest. The ending certainly packs a neat twist and it leaves one wondering about the fates of its two lead characters.
