This is the kind of movie you can watch again and again-- you notice something new each time. The movie pays amazing attention to period detail, for example. Plus the characters are unforgettable, especially Broadbent as Gilbert.
And look fast to see Andy Serkis (aka Gollum aka King Kong) as a flamboyant choreographer. I knew nothing about Gilbert and Sullivan when I saw this movie-- I came away whistling all their ditties and wanting to know more.
An absolute gem of a film.
