Review of Topaz (1969) by Mitch M — 22 Feb 2010
Oddly for a spy thriller, lacking in suspense. In my opinion, the film suffers primarily from the lack of a compelling overarching narrative - okay, the Cuban missile crisis *is* in the background, but somehow you never feel like anything or anyone you care about is at risk (partially, I think, because the film never makes you care about anyone).
All in all, not a bad movie, but probably one justly forgotten.
