Review of Tideland (2005) by Andrew H — 09 Mar 2010
Terry Gilliam is one of those intriguing directors; he doesn't always come up with great stuff, but when he does it's spectacular. Here he takes a very simple and realistic, albeit horrifying and pessimistic, storyline and tells it through the eyes of a child.
Perfect, perfect visuals; the story went in all the right directions while the camera focused on -- and kept focus OFF -- all the right things. A highly messed up film. Bravo, Terry!
