Review of Terror Beneath the Sea (1966) by Senor C — 31 Mar 2011
A very young Sonny Chiba stars in this fun bit of science-weirdness. Very much in the spirit of other 60s Japanese science fiction/action films, there is the obligatory sunglass wearing villain, groovy soundtrack, and exploding models.
The costumes for the fish-men are truly awful, both in design and construction (you can frequently see where they've torn during action). But the subs are cool, and Chiba is good. I liked Peggy Neal as Chiba's girlfriend, too, when she wasn't screaming.
If you're in a Godzilla mood, but want something a little different, check this one out.
