Review of Stagecoach (1939) by Elliot G — 15 May 2008
The rumor is that Orson Welles watched this film forty times before directing 'Citizen Kane', and I think it was to see how John Ford handles characters, which is the most fascinating aspect of this movie.
In some ways, every character is an archetype, but Ford and his actors make them into something more. Gotta love Wayne's introduction and that final chase scene; it's influenced every chase after it.
