Review of Stagecoach (1939) by Charles B — 04 Sep 2018
AFI 100 Greatest Movies - #63: It is not hard to understand why this film gained such acclaim and is said to have changed the way movies were made. Stagecoach combines drama, suspense, action and even comedy to propel its story from stop to stop.
The colorful cast of riders on the stagecoach is what ultimately makes this film work for me as we learn more and more about the character's motivations, and how these motivations dictate their interactions with each other.
The wide angle shots of the journey were beautiful, while the action scenes were eye-popping and must have been a modern marvel in 1939.
