Review of Robot Monster (1953) by James-Masaki R — 13 Apr 2011
When you don't have a budget for a monster costume for a monster movie, then you know it's gonna be bad. "Let's take a gorilla costume, and put a deepsea helmet on it, and some antennas? It'll be a convincing robot!" Then put in a post apocalypse world (cheap, as you don't need much people or sets, just desert and caves) and you have yourself a bad B-movie. But wait, this movie was filmed in 3D! That's where the money was well spent apparently, but incompatible to many places. Oh, and the ending is such a cop out ending: the ever eye-rolling, "Oh, it was all a dream" ending. Sorry for the spoiler....
And with the terrible screenings, apparently the director tried to kill himself and failed? Even he couldn't do that properly. But we are still left with one of the worst movies ever made. One of the masterpieces of bad.
