Review of Pépé le Moko (1937) by Alex M — 25 Sep 2013
A finely acted and shot film that helped set the bar for film noir and everything a perfect crime/drama should be. It's far easier to see how the work of Julien Duvivier had on the later french filmmakers such as Jean-Luc Godard with his dark sense of humor, his use of reframing and stylistic use of lighting.
A truly groundbreaking phenomenon.
