Review of My Way (2011) by Libby C — 28 Dec 2012
Critics hate it, but they're largely missing the point. This is the Forrest Gump of war movies. It's not meant to show you one man's inner life, but instead to take you through history via an extraordinarily lucky or brave character or two.
The director begins the story by sharing the fact that on Normandy's shores, a single Korean was captured on D-Day. This film is his attempt to answer the question, "How the heck did he get there?".
Don't go looking for deep spiritual meaning. Just enjoy the (extremely gory) ride. It's a sweeping epic -- which I usually dislike -- and I really enjoyed it.
