Review of My Way (2011) by Toshihiko H — 08 Jan 2012
Saw this last Saturday in Seoul. (CGV is showing this film with English subtitles at some locations.) It's epic in scope and tells a compelling story, but resorts to the same melodramatic tricks that plague most Korean films.
I saw it as the un-earned emotionality of a Spielberg movie, combined with the special-effects-in-place-of-plot of Michael Bay. My Korean friend observed that the story arc is nearly identical to Taegugi (by the same director), just reformulated as a World War II epic.
