Review of Metallica: Some Kind of Monster (2004) by Rodney E — 25 Aug 2008
Listening to the new bland Metallica song..I wondered what happened? I even liked their stuff from the 90's but don't really care nowadays..Actually the new song I'm listening to just turned really cool.
L Some Kind of Monster is a awesome documentary about a mega band that was on top of the world but the hate started coming their way via Napster and their Load backlash. A detailed look at the dysfunction with the group and looks at Jason Newsted's departure and Dave Mustaine's past history with them to go through a therapy process.
The recording of St. Anger, the creative process, and Newsted's replacement all are featured along with James Hetfield's quest for sobriety. Even if you're not a Metallica fan it should be an entertaining and informative movie.
St Anger wasn't that good but there is enough legit drama here that rocks.
